ISLAMABAD: Bahria Town, as per its commitment, distributed cheques among 512 affectees of Islamabad fire incident, at a small ceremony held here on Friday. The guest list included members of Islamabad Bahria Town management and marketing teams, prominent personalities, members of civil society and media representatives.
On August 27, a fire erupted in the garments section of Islamabad Sasta Bazaar, which destroyed small stalls and incurred huge losses on small businessmen. After the incident Bahria Town Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ahmed Ali Riaz Malik announced relief packages for the victims. But delay by the government in compiling the list of victims also delayed the cheque distribution ceremony to be held by Bahria Town.
On the occasion, member of the Bahria Town management Brigadier (r) Tahir Butt distributed the cheques among families of the victims. He read out a statement of. Ahmed Ali saying “Our heart beats with our people. Bahria Town will stand up to any challenge faced by our nation and will never be found lagging in welfare work. We owe this to our homeland.”
Later, the recipients of the cheques thanked Bahria Town for lending them a helping hand.
