MURREE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said that the solution to country’s problems lies in strengthening of democracy. He was speaking at the foundation day ceremony of Lawrence College Ghora Gali in Murree.
The prime minister said that the challenges confronting the country can best be tackled by promoting and strengthening the democratic process.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that despite challenges, the country is progressing and overcoming its difficulties. He said that today Pakistan is counted among those members of the international community that enjoy a respectable position.
He said Pakistan is fighting the world’s largest war against terror and over two hundred thousand troops are engaged in this war, rendering tremendous sacrifice on behalf of the country.
The premier said that participation as chief guest in the foundation of the college was a feeling of honour for him as he was standing in the same place 42 years ago where students are today. He said it is one of the best institutions of the country which produces great human beings. He stated that this college is a great opportunity not only for learning but also for extracurricular activities.
The prime minister distributed Quaid-e-Azam shield among the winner of this year, advising the students that the college teaches you principles of life. He hoped that the administration would continue to work hard for producing better citizens for the country.
