ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi Thursday demanded that the government should investigate the matter of the amendment of the Khatm-e-Nabuwat declaration. He also stated that the person responsible for the amendment must be brought forth.
Qureshi said this while addressing the National Assembly, adding that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also asked Nawaz Sharif to sack those who were responsible for the amendment.
He termed the amendment a ‘blunder’ which had led to an uproar countrywide, hence it had become crucial to investigate the matter.
Pointing to the walkout of Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Qureshi said never in the history of Pakistan had it been witnessed that a cabinet member had walked out of a national assembly session.
“Where is this government heading?” he questioned. “How is the country being governed? The foreign minister is in US, today a cable will be sent by the US embassy to Washington telling the state department of how much disarray the Pakistani government is in.”
Inter-provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Thursday had walked out of the National Assembly in protest against the list allegedly issued by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) which is said to contain the names of over 37 lawmakers suspected of having links with banned terrorist and sectarian outfits.
The list had named a number of key ministers, including Riaz Pirzada, Zahid Hamid, Awais Khan Leghari, Baleeghur Rehman, Sikandar Bosan, Hafiz Abdul Kareem and National Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi.
In his speech, Pirzada had said that he belongs to a respectable family, and holds the honour of his ancestors, questioning why is he given a ministry if he is in contact with proscribed organisations.
