Chinese envoy meets Pak journalists, emphasises bilateral ties

LAHORE: While sitting with the top Pakistani columnists, experts and senior journalists including Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Saleem Bukhari, Hafeez Ullah Niazi,Usman Shami, Salman Ghani, Shoaib Bin Aziz, Afzal Rehan, Mian Saif-Ur-Rehman and others at a local hotel in Lahore, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said that the Pak-China friendship is deeper than seas, higher than mountains and sweeter than honey. It is a unique friendship which is for all weathers and time tested and it will be carried on from generation to generation.

The sitting was arranged by special envoy of PM on CPEC Zafar Ahmed. Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said that china’s president visited Pakistan in 2015 and uplifted friendship between the two countries at all levels. “China has become a trade partner of Pakistan and it has invested her biggest investment in Pakistan in the last three years. 20,000 Pakistani students are getting education from different institutions of China and China has awarded 5,000 scholarships to Pakistani’s students.” Weidong added.

The Chinese ambassador further disclosed with great optimism that Pakistan and China had entered a new era after CPEC. “The C-PEC project which was started from initial stage by top leadership of both countries is now in full phase of implementation. Similarly, China has started nineteen mega projects in Pakistan which are on their pipeline of completion.” Sun Weidong revealed.

As far as energy projects are concerned, Weidong told journalists that energy projects started by China in Pakistan had added 2,000 megawatt electricity to the National Grid Station. “In Infrastructure sector, China is working on Kharakurum High Phase II and Peshawar to Karachi Express Highway.

He further said that the world must acknowledge the sacrifices and steps taken by Pakistan during war on terror. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif who had done tremendous for the uplift of the province and for the welfare of citizens.
