LAHORE: As a result of effective measures taken by the concerned government departments and intensive dengue outdoor and indoor surveillance, dengue situation in Punjab is normal in the province. During the current year so far 5232 FIRs have been registered, 747 people arrested and 296 premises have been sealed on the violation of dengue regulations.
This was informed in a cabinet committee meeting chaired by the Minister of Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, here at Civil Secretariat on Thursday. Besides, Minister Primary & Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, MPA Pir Ashraf Rasool, Primary Health Special Secretary Dr Faisal Zahoor and others attended the meeting.
Dengue Control Additional Director General Dr Farrukh Sultan briefed the meeting regarding the latest dengue situation in the province and the steps taken by the various departments for its control. He informed that 188 confirmed dengue patients have so far been reported in Punjab during the current year. Moreover, 104 dengue patients from Islamabad have also been reported in the hospitals of Rawalpindi where complete free treatment was provided to them.
Salman Rafique directed the Multan Waste Management Company, Lahore Waste Management Company, Agriculture Department, Fisheries and Auqaf to increase their anti-dengue activities and improve their performance. He also stressed the need of timely redressal of complaints received through Health Line. He also directed for effective publicity of Health Line 0800-99000 to attract the people so that maximum citizens could benefit from this facility and get awareness regarding dengue.
