LAHORE: A woman died when roof of a two-storey building collapsed here in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Rescue sources said that the roof of a two-storey dilapidated building located in Sandha area of the provincial capital Lahore suddenly collapsed.
A woman identified as Rubina was buried under the rubble and found dead. The body was pulled out from the debris and shifted to Mayo Hospital.
Meanwhile, an 18-month-old Fiza was playing in the street near her house in Begum Kot area of Lahore when she fell in an open manhole.
Family members with the help of neighbours retrieved the body from the manhole. Residents of the area staged a protest and demanded action against the officials responsible for the incident.
Punjab chief minister has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from deputy commissioner within 48 hours. On the other hand, WASA MD has also suspended three officers after the media coverage of the incident.
