Sindh police to auction 10-year-old vehicles

KARACHI: Sindh Police has decided to dispose of 10-year-old vehicles being used by various departments and later these vehicles would be put on auction.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khawaja in his office, said a statement issued here on Wednesday. The meeting discussed Sindh police technical and transport (T&T) affairs and took various decisions for its further improvement.

It was decided that 2007 model vehicles under the use of Sindh police officials would be replaced with new vehicles. The old vehicles will be auctioned after completing all proper procedures. The DIG (T&T) briefed the meeting about the distribution of available vehicles in various departments and overall procedure of procurement.

He informed that 211 vehicles had been given to the Karachi investigation department, while around 100 vehicles equipped with modern surveillance cameras were given to Madadgar 15. He further informed that so far 223 motorbikes were given to the staff of investigation branch, 81 motorbikes to special branch and 351 motorbikes were being used by other staff of various police departments.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Additional IG Dr Aftab Pathan, DIG (T&T) Imran Yaqoob Minhas, DIG (Traning) Rao Abdul Karim, Sindh AIG (operations) and AIG admin.
