—-PML-N workers vow support as Nawaz Sharif pays gratitude to NA-120 voters

LAHORE: The voters, supporters and workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) pledged on Wednesday to stand with their leader Nawaz Sharif at any cost if PML-N faces difficult time in near future.

In the over-packed Alhamra Hall, PML-N workers vowed to support ‘disqualified’ Nawaz Sharif and said that they are ready to give any sacrifice for their leader. PML-N workers wholeheartedly welcomed Nawaz Sharif with the slogans of ‘Dekho dekho kon aya, Sher aya Sher aya’, during a workers’ convention, organised by PML-N to pay gratitude to the workers of NA-120, who gave emphatic victory to the PML-N in the by-election contested on September 17. The seat for the constituency fell vacant after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court (SC) in the Panama case.

Ali Raza, a resident of Union Council (UC-51) that falls in NA-120, told Pakistan Today that the situation of Pakistan has been changed drastically since the PML-N came into power in 2013 as load-shedding and incidents of terrorism have decreased manifold since then. “We worked round the clock during the election campaign of NA-120 to prove that this constituency is still a stronghold of Nawaz Sharif and the court’s verdict does not have any impact on his vote bank; the party decided to pay homage to the voters by organising today’s event,” he said. He further added that no one can eliminate the love of PML-N from our hearts as the party always thinks for its workers and he himself was given a job in the Health Department because of the personal efforts of Provincial Minister and local MPA Bilal Yasin.

Yasir Butt, another worker of PML-N said that the verdict of NA-120 was the decision of whole Pakistan and therefore today’s event has been named as ‘The decision of NA-120: The decision of Pakistan’. Showing his unflinching association with Nawaz Sharif, Butt said that he can still remember the days of Parvez Musharaf’s martial law when he had to face the brutality of police and other forces at that time, adding that he is still ready to face the hardships for his party. Suleman Rathore, youth president of PML-N from Sialkot, told this scribe that he hails from the constituency of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and he actively participated in the campaign of NA-120 by spending his days in Lahore during the campaign. “I, along with my team completely cooperated with the team of Maryam Nawaz in NA-120 by-election, because of instructions that we got from our leader Khawaja Asif. I am here today because of personal invitation of Maryam Nawaz’s team,” he said.

Rukhsana Kokab, a female MPA from Lahore, who was enjoying the party’s songs by waving both her hands while standing at her chair, said that the charged crowd at Alhamra Hall has shown that Nawaz Sharif still rules over the hearts of people. “People love him because of his policies and development works that he has done for the country, especially for Lahore,” she said.

The crowd at Alhamra Hall was so charged that speakers including Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif were facing problems while giving their speeches as people kept chanting slogans throughout the event that spanned over two hours. According to the estimate, over two thousand people were present there while special arrangements were also made outside the hall for live broadcasting of Nawaz Sharif’s speech through large screens.
