Senior National Party leader and former spokesperson for the Balochistan government, Jan Buledi, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life as unidentified gunmen attacked his convoy in Kech district of Balochistan province on Wednesday, security officials said.
Levies officials said that Buledi’s son and two security guards were injured when the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at his vehicle.
According to a senior government official, Buledi was heading towards Turbat from his hometown Buleda when his vehicle came under attack. The injured were rushed to Turbat district headquarters hospital for medical treatment.
Levies personnel and officials of other law enforcement agencies rushed to the crime site and started the investigation into the incident.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the incident, and directed the Makran division commissioner to apprehend those involved in the attack.
“Such attacks against common civilians negate social and tribal values of Balochistan”, the chief minister said in a condemnation statement.
