Interior minister orders enquiry into FIA’s case against LESCO officials

–Ahsan says FIA will be purged of corrupt elements

LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has taken a notice of registration of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) case against 11 officers of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and ordered a high-level enquiry into the matter.

According to a LESCO spokesman on Wednesday, the minister issued these directives after having a meeting with representatives of LESCO Engineers Association (LEA).

The spokesman quoted Ahsan Iqbal that action would be taken against FIA officials responsible for registering a baseless case against the officers. During the meeting, the minister was apprised that the FIA’s case aimed at implicating the LESCO officers in Iqbal Town sub-division fraud case on baseless allegations, he added.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Chairman Javaid Saleem Qureshi on Wednesday, the interior minister said the high-handed of FIA against LESCO engineers would not be tolerated, saying that the FIA will be purged of corrupt elements.

The minister said the masses would re-elect the ruling party in the coming elections on the basis of its performance, as they are aware and will make the right decision.

He said the voting criteria is services of the government rather than claims in the talks shows at TV channels.

He said roads were very important for the economy of a country, adding that it was necessary to build roads as these were as important as veins in the human body.

He said country’s stock market lost 16 billion rupees due to the ‘Panama drama’, adding it was very difficult to earn even a single dollar.

Ahsan Iqbal said some people had been working on the anti- Pakistan agenda, adding that these elements were destined to lick the dust. He said Imran Khan had claimed to end load shedding from the country while his party’s provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could not even generate 10MW in a 5-year term.
