200 million Pakistanis will decide whether or not I have gained weight, Nawaz tells cardiologist

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has shot down his cardiologist’s assessment that he has gained weight despite being asked to cut down and has said that the final verdict in this regard should be made by the people of Pakistan.

“Though temporarily, my attempts in this regard have been given an unsympathetic ear, I believe that the final assessment, the true assessment, is still going to be that of the people of this Islamic Republic,” he said to his cardiologist, Dr Hassan Shigri at the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore.

“There is one medical assessment about cholesterol given by career doctors who are paid for their services,” he said. “But there is also a medical assessment about cholesterol given by our teeming millions.”

“Yes,” chimed in PML(N) leade Nehal Hashmi. “Do not forget that you are not going to be a doctor for life. You will retire one day. But we will stay forever. You look at hearts, we will inside hearts,” he added.
