Guru Nanak’s birthday anniversary: Around 3,000 Sikh pilgrims expected to arrive on Nov 2

LAHORE: Foolproof security arrangements are being finalised for Sikh pilgrims who are arriving here on November 2, to attend the 549th birthday of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Gi. Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Siddiqul Farooq said on Tuesday that around 3,000 yatrees from India would arrive here at Wagha Railway Station through special train on November 2, for the celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Sahib.

He said that CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, new boggies of railway for journey and other facilities would be provided to the Sikh pilgrims.

He said tent villages would be set up for the pilgrims and high power generators would be made available as back-up in case of load-shedding.

He said that special arrangements including accommodation and others were being ensured for the Sikhs during their 10-day stay in Pakistan.

He said that every year around 20,000 to 30,000 Sikhs from Pakistan and other countries participate in the birth celebration of Baba Guru Nanak.

The main ceremony would be held at Gurdwara Janumasthan Nankana Sahib on Nov 4 and the pilgrims would return back to India on Nov 11.
