COAS, Corps Commanders discuss border issues

RAWALPINDI: A special Corps Commanders Conference was chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters on Tuesday.

During the conference—which lasted for seven hours—the army high command discussed matters related to security and defence of the country. The progress of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and infrastructure development in the tribal areas of the country was also reviewed.

As per the reports, other than the corps commanders, senior officers were also present at the meeting, where the COAS informed them about his recent visit to Afghanistan and his meetings with the officials there.

The conference was summoned by General Bajwa after his day-long visit to Kabul on Sunday, where he met Afghan president and senior military officials to discuss regional security and border management.

On Monday Pakistan summoned India’s deputy high commissioner over ceasefire violations by the Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).

The Foreign Office, in a statement, said that Indian forces resorted to firing in Rukh Chakri and Rawalakot Sectors on September 30 and October 2, killing three civilians and injuring five others, including a woman.
