LONDON: A veteran activist of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) from Britain, Ifzaal Siddiqui, was appointed by party’s leader General (r) Pervez Musharraf to conduct intra-party elections ahead of general elections in Pakistan next year.
Ifzaal Siddiqui has been tasked to ensure that new bodies are elected in overseas countries with sizeable Pakistani communities, including UK, Saudi Arabia, America, Canada, and the UAE.
Musharraf has appointed a new team to conduct elections to pick new office bearers for overseas units of APML after dissolving current bodies of the party.
According to a notification issued by the party’s central office in Islamabad, three permanent members, Ifzaal Siddiqui, Dr Mohammad Amjad, and Mansoor Moeen, have been appointed to conduct elections for the new tier of leadership.
The three permanent members are currently in Canada where the new body has been elected.
Party’s Secretary General and former federal minister Dr Amjad is tasked with supervision of the election process in Pakistan and overseas among other duties.
While talking to a private media outlet, Dr Amjad has said that in Canada, new bodies have been elected after the members took part in the voting process.
