LHC stays deportation of another Turk teacher

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday stayed the deportation of another Turk teacher serving with Pak-Turk School.

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza passed the orders on a petition filed by Murat Ervan against his possible deportation. Earlier, petitioner’s counsel Asad Manzoor Butt, arguing before the court, submitted that the petitioner was serving as a teacher with the Pak-Turk.

He said a few days ago some law-enforcing agency officials tried to ascertain the petitioner’s location from his colleague.

He expressed apprehensions that the petitioner and his family would be deported from Pakistan; even though they were allowed to stay in Pakistan till November 2017, in the light of a statement made by the attorney general in a writ petition filed against their deportation.

At this, the court stayed the deportation of the petitioner without permission of the court and sought a reply from the federal government till October 6. The court also directed for clubbing all identical petitions and putting them for hearing on October 6.

It is pertinent to mention that the court had also stopped the deportation of a Turk teacher, Orhan Uygun, and his three family members on another petition on September 28.
