DADU: The administration has put security on high alert for Ashura in Dadu district and to stop entry of any possible suicide bomber, the border with Balochistan has been sealed off besides deploying 3,700 policemen and 200 Rangers personnel throughout the district to avoid any untoward incident.
The security personnel have also been deployed at the entry and exit points of the district to stop entry of terrorists in the district. The shops and other business places, along procession routes, have also been ordered to remain closed in Dadu and its major towns whereas the police patrolling in the city have also been expedited. Flag marches were also held.
The government will also shut down cellular services in the district. The administration has also finalised cleanliness arrangements in Dadu city and other major towns for Ashura. Sindh government has announced 9th and 10th Muharram as public holidays.
Tension prevails in Dadu district after a February 16, 2017, suicide bombing that took place inside the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, where pilgrims were performing a Sufi ritual after the evening prayers. Over 100 people were killed and several others wounded in the blast.
