Key accused confesses to killing Tania Khaskheli, SHC told

 

KARACHI: Police informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday that the main accused in Tania Khaskheli murder case has confessed to the killing of the girl for refusing a marriage proposal. A division bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard the suo motu case.

During the course of hearing, the police told the court that the main accused in the case, Khan Muhammad Nohani, had confessed to his involvement in the murder, besides presenting a progress report in the SHC in this regard. The report said that the co-accused Ali Nohani has also confessed to his role of facilitator in the case.

It may be mentioned here that during the previous hearing the SHC chief justice had ordered the Sindh inspector general of police to assign the murder case of Tania Khaskheli to an honest officer for an impartial probe into the killing after it was reported that the suspects were trying to influence the investigation.

The chief justice had also ordered the Hyderabad DIG and Jamshoro SP to provide protection to the father of and the family of the murdered student in the wake of threats from the supporters of the primary suspect, Khan Muhammad Noohani.

The chief justice of the SHC had taken a suo motu action over the media reports regarding the killing of Tania Khaskheli in Jhangara-Bajara town near Sehwan and her family’s complaints regarding threats from the accused. He had also ordered the Hyderabad DIG, Jamshoro SP and the investigation officer (IO) of the case to appear in person, along with progress reports of the case.
