4-day workshop for libraries culminates in prize ceremony

LAHORE: A certificate distribution ceremony was held after a 4-day hands-on workshop on “Cataloging of Archival and Library Material”, arranged by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) and Punjab Higher Education Commission (HEC), in which librarians from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad and Gilgit participated.

 

 

The 4-day workshop received applications from relevant professionals and faculty, who after selection were provided travel, lodging and stipend. The workshop aimed at providing support to libraries in Pakistan, in order to enable incorporation of latest global technologies and trends to improve scholarly access. The specific focus of the workshop included library science and the role of a research library, technological changes in the research library, use of authority files, cataloging and romanisation standards, among other subjects.

The chief guests at the prize distribution ceremony were Punjab HEC Director Asif Munir, Hameed Ahmed and Ryan Christopher Perkins.
