KARACHI: A convicted murderer imprisoned in the Karachi Central Jail has alleged in a leaked video that the jail administration and police are forcing prisoners to sell drugs and kidnap locals for ransom.

The alleged whistle-blower, Taj Muhammad alias Kabu was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering a member of the provincial assembly of Balochistan in 2008 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal of Karachi.

It should be mentioned here that some officials of police have claimed that the video is at least a year old.

The convict was shifted to Khairpur jail 10 days ago for alleged bullying in Karachi jail, officials said.

Deputy Inspector General Pervez Chandio told a news channel that the video was recorded after CTD Senior Superintendent of Police ‘met’ with the convict in jail after he was transferred to Khairpur jail.

He also denied Kabu’s claims that prisoners were being forced by prison officials to either sell drugs or commit kidnappings for ransom.

Furthermore, the Karachi jail administration has asserted that there is no clash between the two security departments as both collaborate for the same cause- to rid the city of crime.
