Talal says Daish flag hoisted to distract government

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday said that the Daish flag was put up in the federal capital to distract the government.

He reiterated former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar’s stance on the presence of Daish in Pakistan and rubbished the claims about the terrorist group’s presence in the country.  “We have been informed that the [Daish] flag was put up to distract [the government],” said Talal and added that a special investigation team had been formed to probe the incident.

The Senate Standing Committee on Interior demanded a detailed report regarding the appearance of a militant group’s flag in Islamabad’s suburbs last week. Senator Mukhtiar Ahmed Dhamra expressed serious concern over the country’s security situation in the meeting.

“The former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar had denied the presence of Daish in the country and yet the group’s flag was hoisted in Islamabad,” Senator Dhamra said. The committee approved the law to install close-circuit cameras in the markets and trade centers of the capital.
