ISLAMABAD: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Department of Public Administration on Wednesday conducted a seminar to create awareness among students about the physical and psychological effects of using drugs.
The seminar was arranged under the theme “Say No to Drugs” and was attended by a large number of students.
Anti-Narcotics Force North Region Assistant Director Jibran Yousafzai was chief guest on the occasion where he informed students about different types of drugs, including narcotics, stimulants, depressants, cannabis, inhalants and steroids.
He also educated the participants about the symptoms of drug addicts and advised the participants to always lend a helping hand to drug addicts in their immediate circles.
The participants were also informed that Pakistan is home to almost nine million drug addicts.
Furthermore, the seminar highlighted different legislations regarding narcotics in Pakistan, including The Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 and Anti-Narcotics Force Act 1997.
Later, different departments of FJWU also organized a walk against drugs which was attended by a large number of students and faculty members.
