PRC holds first aid workshop for journalists

LAHORE: Three-day training in first aid was arranged for journalist by Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Punjab Provincial Branch, concluding on Wednesday in the provincial capital.

At least 60 journalists from electronic and print belonging to different districts of Punjab participated the training sessions.

During three days of the training, at least 15 sessions were held in which participants were taught regarding their response in providing first aid to a patient. Beside theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations were also held during the training sessions. These demonstrations were regarding how to react in case of fainting and its management, angina pain, heart attack, shock and its management, burn and its management, electrical shock and its manager and many other related topics.

Pakistan Red Crescent Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi, while addressing the participants during the concluding ceremony, said that first aid training was highly important for journalists because they had to respond first in emergency situations so if they were trained they could save the lives of people.

PRC Punjab Secretary Abdul Majid Chaudhary said that such training could add more to the skills of the journalists.
