LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday said that the charges filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar have no legal basis, while terming them a ‘joke’.

While speaking to journalists, he said that the finance minister received salaries from private and multinational companies amounting to millions of rupees.

“In its 70-year history, the Supreme Court never formed a Joint Investigation Team,” the provincial minister added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi has demanded immediate resignation from Dar.

Separately, Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed has said that Dar is trouble due to the ongoing NAB investigations against him.

He went on to say that the decision on the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case will come in the next few days. The case is related to alleged money laundering by the Sharif family, including Dar.

“They have destroyed democracy in the country, for some wealth is more important than respect,” Rasheed remarked.

An accountability court on Wednesday indicted Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in connection with a corruption reference that was filed against him by NAB. However, Dar denied all charges against him relating to the accumulation of assets and funds beyond his known sources of income.

NAB submitted a list of 28 witnesses, which it will now begin to produce in court at the next hearing on October 4.

The SC had directed NAB to prepare a reference against Dar for possessing assets more than he had declared in the light of the Panama Case verdict announced by the apex court on July 28.
