Blaze at Karachi garments factory causes huge loss

KARACHI: A fire broke out on the third floor of a garments factory situated in New Karachi Industrial Area of Karachi on Tuesday night which completely destroyed valuables worth millions of rupees.

According to chief fire officer Tehseen Siddiqui, timely action by the fire brigade prevented the blaze to spread to other parts of the factory. The blaze was brought under control after three-hour efforts.

No loss of life was reported in the incident. At least eight fire tenders, two bowers and one snorkel took part in the rescue operation which continued for three hours.

This is the third fire that broke out in the span of two consecutive days.

Earlier this week, it took over eleven hours for firefighters to extinguish a fire that engulfed a cardboard factory in North Karachi during the wee hours of Monday.
