ISLAMABAD: The special central judge on Tuesday announced to indict former Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) chairman Zafar Hijazi on October 4 in the record tampering case of Sharif family’s Chaudhry Sugar Mills.
Hijazi appeared before the court and Judge IrumNiazi handed him over the charge-sheet along with copies of challan. It has been stated in the charge-sheet that Hijazi, being the SECP chairman, tampered the records of Chaudhry Sugar Mills and also tried to stop the enquiry in 2013.
The statements of three SECP officials, who agreed to become approvers, had also been included in the charge-sheet. The officers have claimed in their declarations that Hijazi pressurised them to alter the record.
