National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Khan Janjua has said that the religious scholars can play an important role in eradicating terrorism from the country.
Addressing a meeting of National Ulema and Mashaikh Council here on Tuesday, Nasser Khan Janjua urged the religious scholars of all schools of thought to get united for the sake of national security.
He said that ulema and mashaikh committees should be constituted at the district and tehsil levels to address the issue of hate speech and promotion of sectarian harmony. The National Security advisor said a series of recommendations has been prepared for the mainstreaming of seminaries.
He said 3.5 million students have been enrolled in 38000 seminaries across the country. Nasser Khan Janjua further said the federal and provincial governments would be responsible to fund the seminaries.
