PNCA holds painting exhibition in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A painting exhibition titled ‘From Akra to Peshawar via Takht Bhai’ was organised by Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) directorate of culture at Nishtar Hall, where the artwork of 40 artists from KP was put on display on Tuesday.

The event was inaugurated by Culture Director Ajmal Khan along with senior artists of the province who were present on the occasion. The artwork including oil paintings, watercolours, photography, sculptures and a video documentary was part of the exhibition.

“All the work is very creative,” said Jahanzeb Malik, senior painting artist. He added that most of the painters were young and it was believed that they will grow up and earn a good name for KP.  He also said that the young artists were extremely ambitious and energetic and had the zest for artwork which showed that the province will get the place back which it enjoyed in the past.

According to further details, the paintings exhibited in this exhibition had bold and vibrant colours. There were not only landscapes and historical buildings, but traditional markets and natural beauty of the province were also exhibited through colours.

The regional exhibitions are the part of the 9th national exhibition to be held in Islamabad where the art pieces selected from exhibitions at the regional level will be put on display. The officials of the Directorate of culture told that they had received a high number of entries for this exhibition but work of only 40 artists was selected for this exhibition. The exhibition will continue till September 30.
