KARACHI: Karachi Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) President Professor Dr Zubair Shaikh has said that co-curriculum activities are vital to continue educational activities which help to prepare students for leadership.

This he stated while presiding over a meeting of faculty members for the formation of student societies at the university campus.  He asked the faculty members to highlight the significance and vision of co-curricular activities upon students which provide an exposure to them to show their hidden talents. He also asked the faculty members to include the students in a society in which a student may show his full skills on the basis of his past experience and his ability in the field of his interest.

He also said that he hoped that the students will prepare and present the programmes on their own and within available resources rather than taking help from outside organisations or MAJU alumni.  The meeting also decided to establish computing, engineering, biosciences, business, sports, arts and literature, entertainment, sports, social welfare, media and personality development societies for fall 2017 semester.

Dr Zubair Shaikh also emphasised that while presenting students’ societies programmes, unity, patriotism and national development and prosperity emotions be displayed and fostered.  He also asked to avoid any kind of linguistic, regional and sectarian exploitation and discourage useless traditions from the society.
