KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday extended its interim order that has re-opened Karachi Aisha Bawany College and resumed classes till October 5.
Earlier on Thursday, SHC official Nazir Karamdin Junejo along with Additional Advocate General Barrister Ghulam Mustafa Mahesar went to the college in the afternoon and reopened it after breaking its lock on the court’s directives. The court had ruled that under all circumstances, classes and the college must resume by Friday.
In Monday’s hearing, the SHC official, provincial law officer and police submitted the compliance reports stating that on its directives, the college had been reopened on the same day on which the directives were passed. They informed the judges that classes were also resumed.
Meanwhile, the court also allowed the construction of a wall between Aisha Bawany College and Aisha Bawany School and directed the court official to supervise the construction of the wall.
Earlier on Saturday, another SHC bench had dismissed the contempt of court applications filed by the Aisha Bawany Trust and the Sindh government against each other for defying court’s orders.
While dismissing both the applications, the SHC had ruled that the matter pertaining to the ownership and possession of the Aisha Bawany College would be decided by the Supreme Court, where the matter is pending disposal.
