Ulema urged to ensure sectarian harmony during Muharram

SIALKOT: Gujranwala Division Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Asif has sought the active cooperation of the Ulema belonging to all sects to come forward and play their pivotal role in forging religious and sectarian harmony, unity, peace , faith and brotherhood , besides, averting from hurting the religious sentiments of the people belonging to any sect during the Holy month of Muharramul Harram.

He stated this while addressing an important meeting held on Sunday. He also urged the Muslim Ummah to be united and shun their sectarian differences for the glory of Islam and curbing the menace of anti-Islam and anti-Muslim conspiracies.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Dr Farrukh Naveed said that every person of the society should come forward to play a pivotal role to save the country from the flames of sectarian violence by promoting religious and sectarian harmony. He said that Pakistan has been passing through a very crucial situation and the country and the nation cannot afford to face another mishap and tragedy.

Gujranwala Regional Police Officer (RPO)  Sultan Azmat Taimuri also urged the Ulema to shun their sectarian differences in the larger national interest and glory of Islam. It was told that miscreants if found would be dealt with an iron fist. No one would be allowed to sabotage the peaceful atmosphere in the country.
