Police detain girl who robbed through fake marriages

SARGODHA: Police on Sunday took an 18-year-old girl named Sana into custody after an FIR was lodged against her for robbing people through fake marriages in Sargodha.

The girl, who reportedly married seven times in four months, robbed the victims, later fleeing with their valuable possessions such as jewelry and goods.

The case was highlighted after grooms, Allah Dutta and Azhar Mahmood, complained to a sessions court showing their marriage contracts.

Subsequently, a case was lodged within the jurisdiction of urban area police station against the accused.

The court announced the verdict of jail term for the girl.

The accused had been allegedly working with her brother, father and ‘Nikahkhawan’ (marriage registrar), who were also discovered to be fraud.

During the investigation, the marriages were found to be fake and not registered as per the law.

As per sources, Sana and her group searched for men who were looking to marry and then demanded two to three lakh rupees from the family.

After marriage, Sana would not only steal possessions of the groom’s family as well the guests staying over.
