— Says PKLI will start operating by December
LAHORE: Punjab Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Minister Salman Rafique has said that Pakistan Kidney, Liver Institute & Research Center (PKLI) would be a new chapter in the public service initiatives by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
While talking to media persons after presiding over the steering committee meeting of PKLI at the site office, Badian Road, he said the construction work on the project is continued round the clock and the first phase of the PKLI would be operationalised in December 2017.
PKLI President Dr Saeed Akhtar, Project General Manager Ali Khan, Member Committee Iqbal Sheikh, Elite Force Commandant Ali Nawaz Janjua, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, officers and representatives of LESCO, Sui Gas, WASA, LDA attended the meeting.
Ali Khan briefed the meeting regarding the progress on the construction work according to the timeline whereas the officers of other supporting departments updated the steering committee regarding the progress of the development on their part.
The LESCO representative informed that grid station of the PKLI has been energised and is ready for utilization. He informed that double source connection, heavy generator backup along with UPS have been provided to avoid any interruption in the power supply to the PKLI.
Ali Khan informed that the first phase (package-I) would be completed by the end of November. He further informed that ducting of HVAC system in the system is being done while gray structure has been completed.
He informed that a mosque, PKLI bazaar, and a patient tower is also being constructed while the procedure for the procurement of medical equipment, ventilators, dialysis machines, CSSD, laundry, MRI, laboratory, equipment of robot surgery and other bio-medical equipment is underway.
The WASA representative informed that the 36 cubic inch sewerage pipeline of PKLI would be connected to the main pipeline on Badian Road.
The meeting was also apprised of the matters regarding the widening of the main road, supply of the Sui gas and other development work.
Dr Saeed Akhtar informed that the Pakistani national doctors from UK, USA and other countries would start coming to PKLI by the end of October. He informed that preliminary buildings will be rented to provide residence to these doctors.
The minister directed the officers of all the concerned departments to improve their coordination to ensure completion of the project according to the timeline. He further said in case of any problem the matter should immediately be brought to his knowledge for a prompt rectification.
