- PM Abbasi says democracy won in NA-120 by-polls
Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that the people supported his stance during the recently-conducted by-polls in NA-120 where his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz has got 61,254 votes in all 220 polling stations.
Speaking to the media after holding a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders in London, he said that the people adopted and fully supported his stance during the GT Road rally and provided him with complete support. He said that he saw people’s support for his stance from Islamabad to Lahore.
Referring to reports of PML-N workers going missing before the by-polls, Nawaz said that he has asked Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to look into the matter as such incidents harm democratic forces and the situation can take an unexpected turn.
After his meeting with Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Abbasi said that democracy won in the NA-120 by-polls. Earlier, an important meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders was held with the former prime minister. Prime Minister Abbasi along with other PML-N leaders assembled at Hussain Nawaz’s office for the meeting.
Speaking to reporters, Hussain said that his mother Kulsoom Nawaz’s health had undergone three surgeries and required prayers to recover. When asked by a journalist if he would go to the court, he replied they had always done so.
The meeting discussed country’s political situation and court cases against the Sharif family, among other matters. Nawaz Sharif is in London to be with his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who is under treatment for throat cancer.
