ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sent court summons to the Sharif family’s London residence, asking the family members to appear before the court in a NAB reference.

An accountability court has recently issued summons for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar to appear before it in the NAB reference.

Earlier, NAB had pasted the court summons on the gate of the Sharif family’s Lahore residence. NAB had also sent the summons to London, asking the Pakistan High Commission officials to ensure that the summons reaches the Sharifs.

It is pertinent to mention here that on September 19, an accountability court reissued summons of the family to appear before the court on September 26. During the court proceedings, the NAB prosecutors had told the court that they were not allowed entry in the Sharif family’s multiple homes in Islamabad and Lahore and had to hand the summons to the guards.

The prosecutors had also said that Hassan and Hussain Nawaz had refused to receive the summons. Last month, the Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had chosen not to appear before NAB in different cases.
