Students torch six buses in Faisalabad after speeding bus crushes boy

FAISALABAD: Students from Government Islamia College in Faisalabad set six buses on fire on Friday after one of their classmates was crushed under a speeding bus on Sargodha Road.

Haider, a second year intermediate student, was crossing the Sargodha Road when the speeding bus hit him, killing him instantly. Soon a large number of students gathered at the spot and blocked the main highway. The enraged students first set fire to the bus involved in the accident and then went on to torch five more buses.

The protesting students refused to let members of the rescue and fire brigade pass through and douse the fire, prompting police officials in anti-riot gear to reach the site and disperse the mob. Several students were taken into custody, after which rescue workers were able to control the fire.
