QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has exhorted the Baloch leaders staying outside Pakistan to return to the country and fight for their rights through political and democratic ways.
Addressing a press conference at the JI provincial office in Quetta during his two-day visit there, he claimed there was India’s hand behind the anti-Pakistan and pro-independent Balochistan posters which sprang up in Switzerland.
He welcomed the decision of the Pushto Academy in Quetta to hold an international Pushto conference at in the provincial capital and the Pashtoon cultural Day on Sept 23.
The JI central leader called upon the federal government to appoint an independent enquiry commission for a probe into the appointments made in Balochistan on the basis of false domicile. He also called for the implementation of provincial quota in the federal ministries and autonomous bodies to provide jobs to the youth from Balochistan.
He said that the JI would stage a sit-in in front of the NAB office in Islamabad in October in connection with its Corruption Free Pakistan drive besides stressing the need for across the board of accountability.
Liaqat Baloch deplored that the attitude of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the NAB cases was similar to that of Pervez Musharraf and MQM founder Altaf Husain.
He, however, urged the government to ensure the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution to restore the country’s image as a respectable nation.
Appreciating the show of solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims during the day, Liaqat Baloch welcomed the support announced by Turkey, Saudi Arabia for the Burmese Muslims.
