China appreciates Pakistan’s support promoting BRI: Chinese vice premier

BEIJING: Chinese Vice Premier, Zhang Gaoli appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in actively supporting the BRI through China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while reiterating that China would continue to support Pakistan building infrastructure network, improving the livelihood of its people under the framework of Belt and Road initiative (BRI).

Addressing media-persons from 126 countries who had gathered here to attend the 2017 Media Cooperation Forum arranged by the People’s Daily, he said that the BRI is the Chinese solution to overcome poverty and socio-economic disparities at the international level. China has taken the responsibility of serving the cause of entire humanity, through the policy of shared destiny.

He said they are committed to putting the words into actions and deeds, enabling BRI countries to reap its fruits through win-win situation across the globe.

Highlighting the importance of media role in the implementation of BRI philosophy in true perspective, he expressed that it could serve as a bridge in promoting its essence and spirit.

Experience and knowledge could be shared through people to people exchanges, he said adding, “We could learn through diverse civilisation from each other.”

He was of the view that Belt and Road Initiative was a unique vision for which threadbare consultation was exercised to achieve the desired results.

The vice premier exuded his gratitude to the media houses for extending support and cooperation in understanding the BRI philosophy which would pave the path of peace, prosperity, openness and cooperation for this globe.

He said that media should help people understand the BRI.” China welcomes media outlets and think-tanks to cooperate and consolidate public opinion while offering intellectual support for the BRI,” Zhang said.

He further said that over the past four years, the initiative has yielded fruitful results, calling for consensus and upgrading of cooperation to jointly build the BRI into a path of peace, prosperity, opening-up, innovation and civilization, so as to benefit Belt and Road countries and peoples. More platforms should be created to enhance multi-layered people-to-people exchanges in building the Belt and Road into a road connecting different civilizations, Zhang noted.

Zhang said all of us must carry on the Silk Road spirit of “peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit” to seek greater headway in the China-proposed initiative.

He also talked about the opening up policies of China, deepening reforms, restructuring of the economy, poverty alleviation and other aims and targets of China which have to be achieved in the coming years.

Foreign delegates said the BLI serves the interests of all parties and enjoys a promising prospect, adding that media outlets are willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation to create a sound environment for the implementation of the initiative.

Pakistani representative Masood Malik in his remarks on the occasion said the vision of BLI was wonderful which would help bring revolution, particularly in the sluggish economies after its accomplishment.

He was of the view that social media can play a significant role in projecting the objectives and achievements of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Belt and Road initiative (BRI).
