ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed grief and sorrow over the heavy loss of life and destruction caused by the earthquake in Mexico.
Government and people of Pakistan express their solidarity and stand by the government and people of Mexico at this difficult time period, said a statement issued by Foreign Office (FO) on Wednesday.
“We believe that the resilience of Mexican people will help them in facing the challenges posed by this calamity with courage and strength,” it said, and added, “We offer our profound condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the early recovery of those injured in this disaster.”
At least 224 people died when a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.1 struck central Mexico on Tuesday, toppling buildings in the heavily populated capital where rescuers scoured frantically under the rubble of ruins for survivors.
