At least three people were killed on Tuesday when two suicide bombers blew themselves up inside a gas factory in the city of Shadadi in the southern countryside of Hasakah province in northeastern Syria, state news agency SANA reported.
The bombers snuck inside the Jabseh gas factory in Shadadi, detonating their bomb vests, destroying parts of the factory as well.
A day earlier, a child was killed and five people wounded when a booby-trapped motorcycle went off near restaurants spot in the city of Qamishli in Hasakah, according to SANA.
The Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for the Monday bombing, with its news agency, Amaq, saying the blast targeted a vehicle transporting Kurdish fighters with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The IS militants are believed to be behind the twin bombings in the gas factory.
The IS militants had previously carried out similar bombings in Qamishly and Hasakah in general, as this northeastern region is largely controlled by the US-backed Kurdish forces.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have recently launched a wide-scale offensive against IS in the southern countryside of Hasakah and the northern countryside of Deir al-Zour province in eastern Syria.
The group has already seized control of over 70 percent of IS de facto capital of Raqqa in northern Syria.
