US President Donald Trump’s stern speech at United Nations General Assembly ended with no mention of Pakistan; he focused on North Korea, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

Trump took on North Korea by terming Kim Jong Un as “rocket man”, criticising his recent quest to imbalance the region. He openly threatened North Korea of dire consequences.

US president did mention Taliban’s insurgency in Afghanistan and appreciated the valued contributions of the allies in the war on terror. Importantly, Pakistan is an active ally of US in the war on terror.

As the US-Iran nuclear deal was being widely discussed before the UNGA, Trump categorically rejected the deal. He said that nuclear deal with Iran is the biggest embarrassment to the people of America.

Trump also criticised the Assad regime and appreciated the efforts of Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey to accommodate the Syrian refugees. He threatened Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad once again for his treatment of the people of Syria.

Moreover, he condemned the Islamic radicalization, saying firm actions should be and will be taken against facilitators, financiers and collaborators of radicalised Islamic factions, including ISIS, Hezbollah and Taliban.

Trump also mentioned his visit to Saudi Arabia, appreciating the efforts of the 55 Muslim countries that attended the Riyadh summit. He pledged to give every possible support to the Muslim consortium against terrorism.
