ISLAMABAD: Headed by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmed, the officials of district administration and capital police on Tuesday held a meeting with religious scholars to ensure peace and tranquillity during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting also was attended by Operations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sajid Kiani, religious scholars from various schools of thought and senior police officials of district administration and Islamabad police.
The DC said that it was the mutual responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure peace in society and role of religious scholars was very much crucial for the purpose. He also stressed for the cooperation of religious scholars to promote inter-faith harmony in the society and maintain peace.
SSP Sajid Kiani assured the participants to improve security arrangements of Muharram Majalis and processions. He added that everyone had to fulfil his responsibility to maintain peace during the sacred month and to inculcate tolerance in their attitude.
Maulana Zahoor Alvi said that scholars of Islamabad had always cooperated with the district administration and police. He added that this cooperation would continue and inter-faith harmony and brotherhood would be promoted through disseminating peaceful messages among the followers.
Allama Basharat Imami said that the month of Muharram makes the people remember the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). He added that everyone should play a role in maintaining peace in the society.
All the scholars assured administration and police of their full cooperation.
