Gullu Butt says he fears for his life

LAHORE: Gullu Butt, the infamous baton-wielding man caught vandalizing property during violence in Model Town in 2014, says that he fears for his life.

In a private TV interview, the vandal who was sentenced to at least  11 years in prison for his crime, maintained that he cannot move freely even after being released from prison as he thinks Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or the Tahirul Qadri led Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) might kill him.

“The Sharifs want to kill me to do away with the Model Town case. If I am murdered, Qadri’s case will be finished. I am in a position that even if someone kills me, he will become famous the world over,” said Gullu Butt.

The man who became a symbol of terror after the Model Town incident maintained that he is not a terrorist but a social worker.

Butt clarified that he is not a PML-N worker and only supported the Sharifs in 2009 when they lost the Punjab government and the province was under governor rule.

Though he was convicted and sentenced in the case, Butt claimed that he was just out to buy something for breakfast.
