ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Babar Yaqoob on Tuesday said that the commission will not bend the law to the whims and wishes of the political parties.
Speaking at the opening session of Electoral Management course in Islamabad, the ECP secretary criticised the political parties for pressuring the authority for political gains.
The commission works in accordance with the Constitution, said the ECP secretary.
Yaqoob went on to say that the new laws have further empowered the ECP in coming general elections, adding that the upcoming year will be very important for the commission.
The departments conjoined with the election process will be supervised by the ECP, concluded the ECP secretary.
