Senate debates motions on police system and population

ISLAMABAD: The Senate deferred on Monday two-third agenda and debated motions regarding police system and population issues in the country.

Senate deputy chairman presided over the sitting for some time while the rest of the proceedings were presided over by a member of Panel of Presiding Officers. The leader of the House attended the session while the leader of the opposition was not present.

The House debated a motion regarding the progress made in the development of alternate narrative to curb militancy as envisaged in the National Action Plan (NAP).

The structural issues of power sector in the country resulting in a perpetual crisis affecting the daily lives of general public came under discussion. A motion about the present police system in the country was also discussed which suggested ways and means for its improvement to ensure better protection of the fundamental rights of the people.

The situation arising out of a rapid increase in the population of the country also came under discussion.
