LAHORE: No untoward incident was reported during the polling process in NA-120 by-elections, due to effective security apparatus put in place by the law-enforcement agencies including armed forces personnel.

To ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process, foolproof security measures were adopted inside and outside the polling stations, while Pak Army personnel also remained vigilant at polling stations.

At least 8,000 policemen including six SPs, 18 DSPs, 46 SHOs, remained on-guard to ensure peaceful voting process and implement the code of conduct of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in letter and spirit.

No one was allowed to move with armed private guards during the election, whereas a zero tolerance policy was adopted in displaying, carrying of arms, and jubilant firing.

The personnel of Police Response Units (PRU), Dolphin Squads, and Elite Police Force conducted patrolling on various roads to maintain law and order during the polling.

As per the plan, 220 polling stations in the constituency were divided into five zones, and an SP was in-charge of each zone.
