Polio workers will be accountable for their duty: CDA chairman

ISLAMABAD: Each polio worker at any level will be accountable for his/her duty and zero tolerance for any lapse will be observed. Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz expressed these views on the occasion of the inauguration of ‘September Polio Campaign’, to be held from September 18 to 21, at Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

He said that DHS is responsible for holding ‘Polio Eradication Campaigns’ within municipal limits of Islamabad including a belt of rural areas in its northwestern part.

He also said that Capital Development Authority (CDA) part of Islamabad was “Polio Free” since 2000, which was an achievement applauded by World Health Organisation (WHO) and other United Nations (UN) formations.

According to details, the mayor, on the occasion, was apprised that for effective management of polio campaign, Islamabad was divided into 27 Zones. The area has 27 zonal Supervisors, 127 sector supervisors and a total of 734 teams. Teams were further divided into 561 mobile teams, 52 transit points and 94 fixed centres.

The DHS, in collaboration with CDA Administration Member Muhammad Yasir Peerzada, has arranged government monitors which will monitor real-time polio activities in the 27 zones under administrative control of DHS, CDA / MCI. This strategy will improve quality of campaigns and will enhance activity to above 95 per cent.

According to reports, CDA chairman has stressed hard to improve quality of campaigns and has advised Yasir Peerzada to put-forth all necessary resources at disposal of DHS to ensure the highest quality of the campaign.
