LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz, daughter of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, has claimed that the judiciary has been treating the Sharif family unfairly from the day the Panama Papers came to the fore.

“It was not possible to hope for justice, yet we decided to test the judicial system once again by filing the review petitions against the judgement delivered on July 28,” she said during an interview with a private TV channel on Saturday.

“The way we were treated in the last year and a half and the way court proceedings of cases were held, the way verdicts came, after that, it was not possible to hope for justice. With this in mind, we decided to once again test the judicial system of the country,” she said.

“We wanted to fulfill the legal requirements and the world should know that we approached the court repeatedly and tried to have our voice heard. Now the result is in front of everyone,” she said. The PML-N leader alleged that the Sharif family had been subjected to the “worst media and judicial trial” during this period.

“I believe there is no bigger injustice than what was done with us for the last one and a half years. We were subjected to the worst media and judicial trial. What happened in the JIT, I do not want to go into those details. We stayed within the system and fought for our rights and are now raising our voice for our rights,” she said.

Maryam said the apex court’s decision had not only astonished the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) but the entire world as well. “We were not given the opportunity of a fair trial and the verdict did not fulfill the requirements of justice. The world is astonished over that verdict. When our judges give such a verdict which not only astonishes the PML-N but the entire world, questions will be raised,” she said.

In response to a question about her own nomination for the seat, she said that she will soon represent the party in the assembly.

In response to a question about the election campaign, she said, “The difference between previous elections and this one is that eighty per cent of the supporters this time around is the youth of the country.”

On the Dawn Leaks issue, Maryam claimed that it was a ‘non-issue’ and said that it was turned into an issue just to pressurise Nawaz Sharif and the reality of it should have been revealed.

“According to my personal opinion, the truth should have been brought forward,” she said. “Mian Nawaz Sharif made several compromises in his four and a half years in government, which in my opinion, he should not have done,” she added.

  1. Supreme Court Judiciary was very kind not to send these criminals to jail . The Shareef family must bow down to offer Shukrana Navafils for not being in Jail. Allah rab ul Izzat may have mercy on these criminals.

  2. Sharif family looted to their hearts delight for decades, when accountability took its course, NAB and the courts let them off under one lame excuse or another, that is the definition of fairness and justice in the eyes of this odeous woman living in a dream world. Now that real accountability is in action squeezing pips out fof Sharif family’s arrogance, invincibility and bluster, this dispicable witch from cloud cuckoo land is crying foul.

  3. Give us a break lady. We admire your tenacity for a lost cause. The former PM has been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt by the people who count. The Shariff Family does not give up! They indirectly accuse the SC of being a kangroo Court. What is that drives this lady on?. Is it ambition? What is it that that drives a cancer striken Kulsoom to contest elections? Is it love for Pakistan or HUBRIS.
