A woman was critically injured in a suburb of Chiniot city in Punjab when a landlord attacked her with an axe after her family refused to give her hand in marriage to him, a private news channel reported on Saturday.
According to the report, the incident took place in Jangar Kalutara area where landlord Iqbal tried to axe Asmat Bibi to death upon her parents’ refusal to marry their daughter to him.
Iqbal wanted to decapitate the woman with the axe but fortunately it missed the aim and hit her on the left shoulder, the report said, adding that the woman was shifted to the hospital in critical condition.
Chenab Nagar police has registered an FIR [First Information Report] against the accused and is making raids for his arrest.
