LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is grossly violating the code of conduct in the by-election for NA 120 and the Election Commission (ECP) had completely failed to discharge its duties.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Saturday, he said that the government machinery and public money were being lavishly used to ensure the victory of PML-N candidate and even the Zakat money and funds of the Baitul Maal were being used for the purpose.

Liaqat Baloch said the Sharif family was committing blunders, again and again, adding that it would have been better if the ruling party had fielded aPML-N worker in the by-election instead of a Sharif.

He further said the JI was appearing before the Supreme Court again for the accountability of 436 other persons named in the Panama Leaks and also of those involved in the mega corruption cases pending before NAB.

He said there were moves to abolish the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution but the JI would not allow anything of this nature which would alter the basic character of the constitution.
