Highly upset over OIC stance on held Kashmir, India on Friday told the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that it would be better off not commenting on its internal affairs.
India was replying to comments on Kashmir made by Pakistan, on behalf of the OIC, of which it is a member.
“Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has no locus standi on India’s internal affairs, we strongly advise the OIC to refrain from making such references in future,” said Sumit Seth, first secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to UN.
Seth delivered his response using the ‘right of reply’, after Pakistan, on behalf of the OIC, made its statement.
The OIC has made comments on Kashmir several times over the years. In one recent such instance in July, the OIC strongly condemned “gross human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir” and said the Kashmir dispute posed a threat to the peace and security of the region.
